Madison Washburn.
Forestry Science Communicator
From fieldwork to storytelling.
I tell stories about forests, fire, and the people working to understand them.
Hi, I'm Madison! I'm a forestry professional and science communicator originally from Northern California. I've always been interested in forests—not only in how they grow, change, and respond to fire, but in the relationships people and communities have with them.
That curiosity has taken me from studying forestry and collecting tree-ring samples in the field to exploring how storytelling can make environmental science more accessible and meaningful. My work brings together science, communication, and stewardship, with a particular interest in fire ecology, forest management, and the ways research can support people caring for the landscapes around them.
Most recently, I brought those interests together through my Master of Forestry project, The Forest Keeps Its Own Record—a documentary exploring fire, forest history, and stewardship on the east side of Mount Hood.
This site is a collection of that work and a few of the projects I've had the opportunity to be part of along the way. Thanks for stopping by!
